The New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers have been linked in a lawsuit that alleges the team used the herbal supplement Frankincence to boost performance in training camp.
The suit claims the team made no money from the supplements sales and that players were misled by the company.
The NFL says it has not made a determination about whether the supplements constitute endorsement or marketing of the Patriots.
The league says it would not comment further.
Frankincance has been used by NFL teams since the 1990s.
The Patriots’ supplements are made by Purdue Pharma.
NFL officials have said they have never sold or distributed any Frankincences.
The team has denied any wrongdoing.
